New Mill is a small village near Holmfirth, the
famous "Last Of The Summer Wine" country, in West Yorkshire,
England. New Mill Male Voice Choir was formed
in 1991 and has evolved into the 60+ vocal force
we hear today. The choir has performed at many
venues throughout the UK and has enjoyed successful
tours to Spain, The Czech Republic, Poland and
Italy. The Choir recently achieved first place
in The 2010 Don Valley Male Voice Choir Competion.
The recent announcement that the TV sitcom
Last of The Summer Wine is to be taken
off air at the end of the current series prompted
us to add this image of the late Bill Owen aka Compo
'conducting' the Choir in the mid 1990's. The programme
will be fondly remembered in the Holme Valley.
