Where we are

What will happen at the Taster Session?

You will be partnered up with a choir member for the evening.
Your voice range will be checked by the musical director (it’s painless!) to place you as a tenor , baritone or bass. You don’t need to read music

The rehearsal will last a couple of hours. Just relax, listen and join in when you feel comfortable.

At the end of the rehearsal you will be welcome to join us for a drink, supper and socialising in the Club bar.

What Happens Next?

Once you have sampled a few rehearsals and you think that you would like to commit to joining the choir then you will have a voice test with our musical director.

Its just to make sure you can hold a note and to confirm which section of the choir best suits your voice ( Tenor1 , Tenor2, Baritone, Bass). Unless you are a trained singer ( and the vast majority of the choir aren’t) then do not worry if you think your voice is a bit ‘rough at the edges’. Like all skills , practice will make improvements. As time goes on you will feel more confident in your singing ability.

What does it cost?

Once you are confirmed as a member of the choir your subscription is £136 per year (paid quarterly).
Thats just £2.62 per week.
You will be given a choir jacket, casual polo shirt, fleece and a folder with music from our current repertoire.

Social Life

The choir is not just about singing! We have a wide and varied social life which is very important to us. We organise popular informal singing evenings in local pubs, workshop weekends in Scarborough and annual dinners. There are opportunities to go walking and cycling – the choir arranges a rich variety of social activities.
